Aren't these figures larger than the older versions?

£175 is nothing...

Try paying - $306.
Heh, it's 750pln here.

Which is as much work as 550GBP.

Still cheaper than the £1293 28mm sized Warlord Titan

My word! How is that even remotely practical for a 28mm war game table?
I think the whole idea of 28mm Titans was peak of the GW stupidity and degeneracy.
Apocalypse was the most stupid thing ever invented and I suspect they intentionally killed Epic for it.

To be honest, for Titans, even 6mm and even more, 8mm is way too big scale. Like, in Confrontation lascannons have range of 6000m and here we have titans duking it out with starship-grade weapons on a 200x200m battlefield.

Like for stuff like Titans and superheavies, 2mm should be proper scale and that assuming dense city terrain. Maybe even 1mm?

A Warlord Titan in 2mm would be around 38mm tall, which is quite reasonable for a miniature and a 3x3' table would represent around 600m (still absurdly small, unless we're fighting in a city with extremely broken line of sight.)

I've been waiting years for GW to return to epic scale, and although the miniatures for AT are a bit expensive, I know I can save a lot of money with some DIY buildings and terrain. I think GW has done well for the launch of AT but...maybe a smaller starter set with just the Knights or Reavers'n'Warhounds first. Also Imperial Knights: Renegade could be reworked into a 8mm £30 box game with little effort, and some cardboard buildings like they had in Space Marine many moons ago. That said, if I had the £175 saved up, I would have gone for the Grandmaster edition.

For the time being I've ordered a box of Knights for use in Horizon Wars, although I do plan to get the AT Rule set with more Knights and hopefully two Warhounds around the Christmas season. If the Reaver isn't too expensive I might get one of those too.

I'm predicting the price of the Reaver will be about £40 while the pair of Warhounds will be roughly...£35.

A pack of Knights, sent by Wayland, arrived on the doorstep this morning and well chuffed with them. They are slightly larger than a "easy to build" primaris marine and come on a single sprue, but its jam-packed with very detailed pieces. Comes with an instruction booklet with colour schemes in the back which looks nice. If the booklet had just a little more eye candy or information about the game itself then £20 would be justified but at Wayland's £16...just right.

In hindsight the Grandmaster edition would seem like a lot of work in one go, both assembly and paint wise. AT feels like a specialist game you build over time, but the GM edition is meant for the hardcore professionals running Youtube channels, gaming shops or clubs to showcase the game. Just have this gut feeling there will be another edition with a Reaver and 3 Knights bundled with the rule set...which would be nice! Might even email GW and twist their arms for that...

So exciting!

Pics once they are made up be great. Especially if you had some 6mm Epic minis to put next to them for a sense of scale for my simple brain!

Started assembly of one the mighty little chaps this afternoon, but it will be a while before they are finished. In the mean time I would say a Tau Stealth Suit( 28mm ) has the right size and feel of these Knight fellas. Which reminds me...might use them as Mechs in Horizon wars!

Many moons ago( about 28 years old? Ouch! ) I had a copy of Space Marine with the Warlord Titan and the Marines and eldar forces and remember the 5-man squad bases very well. With a bit of plasticard and millput I think a mock up to go with a Knight should be possible...

Are the knees and torso adjustable on the new Knights? It's mentioned as such for the Titans...

The knees are fixed but the torso can be glued into different poses. The three Knights seem to have slightly different leg poses though...

Old Knight looks stompier. :) Good to see the comparison.

The new knight looks like it could actually move and has stepped out of a Transformers movie, old knight looks straight out of 2000AD. Guess that's appropriate.

Just got a reply back from GamesWorkshop regarding a smaller starter set and they said...

"This is certainly an interesting thought and I've passed on your idea to the design team so they might have a think about it."

...I also gave them a slight hint that it would make a lovely pre-order for Christmas, so fingers crossed. 8-)

I was so hoping to model some Morris Dancer posturing...

Any idea why the Knights' legs aren't adjustable compared with the Titans'? I noticed the same thing with the 32mm sized versions...

Okay, with some cardboard and blu-tac I've whipped together a quick size-comparison with the standard squad base used in Space Marine, many a moon ago...

...and thinking on it - I was very tempted to scarifice one of my Knights in the name of comedy - you could pose a Knight in a forward kicking position, but the crotch-banner thingy would have to go.

The Reaver Titan goes on pre-order next weekend...

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/08/26/reavers-and-rotters-next-weeks-pre-orders/

...but it really depends on the price of this bad-lad. Being the second largest Titan, with a dual-pack of Warhounds to follow, I can't see this being less than £40. That said, doing a bit of maths and scaling the prices for the ForgeWorld Warlord, Reaver and Warhound titans against the price of the AT-scale Warlord of £65...the calculation comes to £35 for the reaver and £19 for a single warhound...

It's $60 for us Stateside, actually $63.75, with 6.25% sales tax, for Massachusetts residents and those poor bastards in Louisiana pay $66.01 - 10.02% sales tax.

£49 and £51, respectively - that is way too much! :o

I wonder, though, that if GW manufactured and distributed locally in the states, would it be cheaper? I assume the high price is due to importing from the UK?

:(

Have you forgotten page 2? Probably different for Europeans, but for the US, the GW books and plastics are of Chinese origin...

AFAIK, there used to be a Stateside manufacturing facility, but it didn't affect the prices. Compared to my UK experience, GW US has always felt more like an exercise in profit maximization at the expense of the hobby. I had no idea that a free metal Mordheim Aenur came with the UK WD, so the Slaughterpriest freebie was a welcome surprise, considering it was $27, now $30 thanks to the price hike.

It used to be that Forge World stuff was sales tax free, since it came from the UK, but since 2015/16, I have to pay State sales tax in addition to international shipping. :(

Just looking at my wip Kabalite Warrior's box...manufactured in the UK. I guess that China manufactures for the rest of the world but then ships the stock to the UK and then its distributed from there( or "here" in my case! )...

Ugh, painting the Knights is proving difficult as I havent done a fully painted mini in 18 years, and these tiny chaps are hyper-detailed. Kinda wish I was painting the Reaver instead!
