Adeptus Titanicus 2017...

GW: Adeptus Titanicus In 2017

I'm probably the only one who just found out about it, despite the fact that information was available back in 2016...

Adeptus Titanicus.

However talking to Andy Hoare, Mark Bedford and Chris Drew I can mention the following:

The game is set during the Horus Heresy in the spirit of the original Adeptus Titanicus.
It will begin with just Titans.
The scale will be 8mm – They decided on this scale after 3D printing a Marine, Dread, Leman Russ, Warlord and a Mastodon in three different scales. 8mm was deemed the best as you could see the details to the point of telling different armour marks apart but didn’t make the Titans too big.
8mm will make a Warlord around 6″ tall (that’s what it looked like why Andy Hoare put his hands apart, don’t blame me if the final model is smaller or larger…).
The models will be produced in resin by Forge World.
Typical force may be in the region of two Warlords, two Reavers and two-three Warhounds.
More Titan variants are possible.
Down the road infantry and tanks are to be introduced.
Other forces are also possible, this includes Xenos which can be introduced in a themed expansion, e.g. Adeptus Titanicus: Armageddon to bring in the Orks.
Currently the Titans are being 3D modelled by Chris Drew, the Warlord has been done as the 40k version was originally 3D modelled so it was a case of just scaling things down and getting it to work as a model which can be manufactured.

We may, may, get to see something at the Forge World Open Day…(may, depending on Tony Cottrell)

Never got round to buying AT, Space Marine or Epic 40k, just ended up looking over the then WD battle reports. Curious, how tall were the Space Marines?

The scale for Epic was 6mm, so marginally smaller than the proposed new version.... just different enough to stop me using my extensive Epic collection!

I can see why they picked a bigger scale for more detail, but it's off-putting that they are incompatible. Do I really want to start again?

If there is a new version of Epic with 8mm PLASTIC miniatures I`m in. The advances in plastic casting and 3D desing will make them much better than the original 6mm miniatures. Yes, I`ll continue to use my extensive collection of Epic 6mm miniatures, but it doesn`t stop me of buying a lot more of mini-minitures

At first glance it sounds nice to have some new minis and a new rules/box set but 8mm insted of 6mm??? O.K. it is just 2 mm but at that scale this is a lot of difference. Lets have a look at the models and see what comes but looking in my glas ball I think that I will stay with the old models.

For troops I agree. But for vehicles I like the idea of them being a bit bigger. Especially things like Rhino's, Thawks, Titans which in my eyes always looked a bit small.

Jep Berkut with this I agree. Lets have a look what comes. I use old rhinos alongside new rhinos, also the titans I mix old and new. I must say that I have a soft spot for the older ranges but some of them are very small like that said thunderhawk.
For the Infantry the only think that might look great would be Tyranids...so lets see what comes

If they even do infantry etc. It might just stick with Titans.

I am the same, prefer most the older stuff. Well, except the original Thunderbrick's. And the Warhounds, like the newer ones of them.

Problem is, epic was never a consistent scale, as when the original Titans were sculpted there was never going to be anything else, then when Aly Morrison made the epic Space Marines he made them as small as the medium would allow, but not in any way to scale with the Titans (hold one next to the Titan's head and see how many you think would fit inside!).

I promise on my unreleased Space Slann the new scale choice has been chosen to do the right thing by the entire range of model types, from infantry to Titans, not to mess up anyone's vintage collection :)

it fits with the scale creep that's gone on anyway. at least they're consistently inconsistent.

i bet these new titans are going to look amazing.

i can't see myself branching out into 8mm gaming though. i've already got enough stuff i haven't got time to paint or play with.

Its a shame its not 10mm really, becuase the 10mm community is crying out for 10mm space marines. At 10mm they would have been a good scale for many enthusiasts, but what else is there at 8mm? You cant even get scenery or anything. It not going to put off the copy-cat sculptors, becuase they are all sculpting digitally now and will just offer their models in 8mm or 6mm.

It just seems one of those crazy desicions GW like to make that every one goes "Wha...?!". The Specialist Games guys seem like they are making some lovely products and Im sure the new Adeptus Titanicus will be a good game and great figures but.....8mm? No thanks.

I just did a search for "8mm gaming scenery" and there is nothing. NOTHING.

Nscale?

Strangely enough Perry's Travel Battle is 8mm. Napoleonic style IG & Titans, sounds fun.

Who knows, maybe if 8mm = human height, a Space Marine will actually be 10mm, so it might mix well with other stuff.

This was a nice kitbash. A lot better than the slitherzoid thing they did.

I made one back in my youth. It was similar to this but i had a different head and weAPONS. Cant remember what happened to it.
